Flossing is such a little task, that takes such little time, that makes a HUGE difference in the health of your teeth. Most people don’t follow the guidelines for flossing and do not practice routine flossing. Although it is best to floss after each meal, if you can only floss once a day, it is best to do it before bed. This will prevent any hidden bacteria between the teeth to build up and cause cavities. How Much Floss to Use?

It is best to start off with about 18 inches of floss. Wrap the extra length of floss around your fingers. Gently work the floss in between each tooth by sliding it up and down. Once you reach the gum line, gently slide the floss into the space between your tooth and your gum line.

What Type of Floss to use?

It is recommended to use waxed floss instead of unwaxed floss. Waxed floss will slide easier between the teeth and make it easier to grab a hold of any bacteria.

Be sure to floss regularly and if you experience any bleeding during flossing, contact your dentist. This could be the beginning of gum disease.
